Bienvenue en Provence

Every great story begins by bringing the right people together. Ours started with an unexpected encounter at business school. Today, that story has led our families and friends from France, the United States, and around the world to gather in one of our favorite places.

Bringing together the people we love has always been one of our greatest joys, and we couldn’t imagine a more beautiful setting than Provence to celebrate this new chapter with all of you. It is a place where life slows down, the light transforms the landscape throughout the day, and so many of the things we love - nature, culture, wine, and long meals - come together.

We hope this weekend is filled with laughter, long conversations, shared meals, a little too much wine, plenty of dancing, and a few happy tears.

Thank you for making the journey. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Our Story

It started with a competition we didn’t win. Or maybe we did.

THE BEGINNING

Every now and then, life has a funny way of bringing two people together when the odds seem to say otherwise.

We met at Kellogg through a venture capital competition focused on the future of food. Although we were both at Kellogg, we were in different MBA programs, had never shared a class, and Clémence was only months away from graduation. It didn’t exactly feel like the time for the beginning of a love story.

For the record, we came painfully close, but we didn’t win. Tom made peace with the result fairly quickly. Clémence accepted it too… eventually. Nearly three years later, she can still recount exactly what went wrong with the fervor of a French revolutionary.

ACROSS AN OCEAN

Fortunately, the competition ended, but the conversations never did. We discovered quickly that we could spend hours talking about food, movies, history, art, books, travel, or whatever had captured our curiosity that week, along with an early shared conviction that The Wire is the greatest television series ever made.

When Clémence returned to France a few weeks later, an ocean and a seven-hour time difference somehow made us talk even more. Somewhere between thousands of messages and far too little sleep, we quietly became each other’s favorite part of the day. And when graduation for Clémence arrived, plans for New York or San Francisco slowly gave way to Chicago, and the possibility of building a life together.

DIFFERENT WORLDS, SHARED CURIOSITY

At first glance, we can seem like two people from very different worlds. Tom, the tattooed former soldier who loves American football (Da Bears), and happily sleeping on the ground in the middle of the mountains. Clémence, the intellectual Parisian who can disappear into a philosophical rabbit hole for hours, preserves every moment of meaning (big or small) in memory boxes, that may eventually require their own room or even apartment to hold them all.

But what brought us together was never how similar or different we appeared. It was a shared curiosity and a desire to experience life fully: discovering beautiful places, lingering over great meals, experiencing art and culture, dancing to songs from another decade at Beauty Bar, laughing at our own ridiculous jokes, and never quite losing that childlike sense of wonder.

A LITTLE MAGIC

So when Tom proposed, he knew exactly what he wanted to capture. Knowing Clémence’s love for the moments that make us see the world through a child’s eyes, he secretly arranged a private performance with her favorite magician at the Chicago Magic Lounge, where the engagement ring appeared by magic.

Looking back, perhaps chance brought us together. But we’ve learned that love is built through the choices that follow: choosing each other across continents, choosing curiosity over certainty, embracing what makes us different, and choosing, again and again, to build a life together.

Perhaps that’s what magic really looks like.

Dress Code

What to wear throughout the weekend

Welcome Party

Summer Cocktail

Picture a warm summer evening in Provence: the scent of lavender in the air, a glass of rosé in hand, and golden light stretching across the olive trees. Think effortless elegance rather than formal dress

For gentlemen, a button-down shirt with trousers or chinos is perfect. Jackets are entirely optional.

For ladies, summer cocktail dresses, elegant jumpsuits, or chic separates are all wonderful choices. Light fabrics, soft colours, and comfortable shoes will serve you well as we celebrate indoors and beneath the Provençal sky.

One small request: please leave the shorts at home.

Wedding Day

Formal Summer Wedding Attire

This is the moment to dress up. Think elegant, timeless, and worthy of a summer celebration in the heart of Provence.

Gentlemen, lightweight suits (jackets required) in lighter tones are encouraged (ties are entirely optional).

Ladies, formal dresses of any length, elegant jumpsuits, or refined separates are all wonderful choices. Above all, wear something that makes you feel your best.

We kindly ask that you do not wear black. In France, it’s traditionally associated with mourning rather than celebration, and we’d love the day to feel as bright and joyful as possible!

A few practical notes:
- Part of the celebration will take place on the lawn, so ladies if your shoes and grass have never been properly introduced, this may not be the ideal moment.
- July in Provence can be gloriously hot (and we do mean hot). Think breathable fabrics, sunglasses.
- As the evening goes on, temperatures may cool slightly, so ladies, you may want to bring a light shawl or jacket for later in the night, just in case!

Brunch

Come As You Are!

Think relaxed, comfortable, and ready for one last morning together

Summer attire, sunglasses, and a good story from the night before are all highly encouraged.

Travel & Transportation

Everything you need to plan your journey to Provence

Eygalières is best reached through Marseille or Avignon. We strongly recommend renting a car so you can explore the region and travel easily throughout the weekend.

Getting to Provence

FLY

Marseille Provence Airport

The nearest international airport to Eygalières is Marseille Provence Airport (MRS), a 45-minutes drive to Mas de la Rose. You can easily get a taxi or an Uber or rent a car from MRS to Eygalières.

You can also fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG), or Paris-Orly Airport (ORY), then take a train in Paris to Avignon TGV or Aix-en-Provence TGV as described in the Train section.

Keep in mind as you plan your travel, Paris Gare de Lyon Train Station is located in the city of Paris, a 1-hour drive from CDG or 30-minute drive from ORY.

Another option is flying to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE); however, it is a 2-hour drive to Eygalières.

TRAIN

Avignon TGV

The closest train stations to Eygalières are the Avignon TGV Train Station and Aix-en-Provence TGV Train Station. You can easily get a taxi or an Uber or rent a car from the TGV stations to Eygalières.

TGV (Trains à Grande Vitesse) is France’s intercity high-speed rail service, operated by SNCF.

We recommend purchasing tickets in advance using the link below!

DRIVE

Renting a car

We highly recommend renting a car during your stay in Provence. The region is best explored by car, and having your own vehicle will give you the freedom to discover the beautiful villages, vineyards, markets and landscapes of the Alpilles at your own pace.

For our guests traveling from the US, rental cars are readily available at Marseille Provence Airport, Avignon TGV station and other major arrival points. Please note that most rental cars in France are manual transmission, so we recommend specifically requesting an automatic vehicle when booking if needed. Cars are generally smaller than in the US, so keep luggage space in mind when choosing your vehicle.

Travel agent

If you’re in need of travel assistance within France or beyond, we recommend working with Unfolded Travels. The founder, Brittany Pigorini, is an American based in Europe who specializes in planning fully personalized travel itineraries.

Travel planning service includes: securing airfare, reserving hotels and/or booking villa accommodations, arranging tours & activities, and coordinating all transportation.
Rates from $800

Wedding-weekend transportation

Please note that guests are kindly asked to arrange their own transportation to and from the wedding venue. We recommend planning your transportation in advance, particularly if you do not intend to rent a car.
